1)  New Sunroof  Installations
Q.   What will happen to  my domelight and /or overhead console ?

With few exceptions, domelights and consoles are retained as close to the original location as possible.  Larger consoles may be  modified
to fit properly with the sunroof.

Q.   Will my new sunroof leak ?

Rarely.   Todays aftermarket sunroofs are of excellent quality,  and leaks are rarely the result of a defective sunroof.    The
potential for leaks lies more with choices made during installation and the appropriate choice of sunroof for the vehicle.  We
service every product we sell.  In the event you do have a problem with your new sunroof, we have years of experience to
correct it quickly.

Q.   Is there any warranty on my new  sunroof ?

Yes.  New sunroof warranties vary with the sunroof manufacturer and may last as long as you own your vehicle.  Warranties are usually only
to the original sunroof purchaser and cannot be transferred to a subsequent owner.

Q.   How long will it take to install a sunroof in my car ?
New sunroof installation times vary with the sunroof and vehicle involved, and typically range from one hour to two days.
2)  Repairs
Q.   I have a broken sunroof and I don't know if it is factory installed or not.   Can you repair it ?

Yes.  We  service all makes and models of sunroofs, moonroofs, t-tops and convertibles.    There is no charge for estimates.

Q.   My sunroof is leaking, what does it cost to replace the gasket / weatherstrip on my sunroof ?

Repair costs vary with the make and model of sunroof.  More importantly, the weatherstrip is rarely the cause of a leak unless
it is visibly damaged.  One of the least understood facets of sunroof operation is water management.  Many sunroof designs,
both factory installed and aftermarket, and nearly all moonroofs  allow a controlled amount of water to enter the  vehicle.  This is necessary
because there is only a slight contact pressure between the weatherstrip and the sunroof opening on  those types of sunroofs to minimize
wear on the weatherstrip when it slides back and forth in the opening.  A drainage system is built into the perimeter of the sunroof to
evacuate any water that seeps past the weatherstrip.  This system includes a drain tube at each  corner of the roof  to drain the water back
out of the vehicle.  Most leaks are caused by a blockage in this drain system  due to  foreign material  clogging the drain tubes, most
commonly dirt, leaves and bugs.
3)  General Questions
Q.   What is the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof ?

The difference is in the operation.  Electric Moonroofs slide down inside the vehicle roof when opened, Electric Sunroofs slide back over the
top of the roof.  Non-electric (manually-operated) roofs are called Pop-Up Sunroofs.

Q.   Is my sunroof factory installed or aftermarket ?

When opened, an aftermarket sunroof will have a molding (usually black and approximately half an inch wide) around the
perimeter of the sunroof opening in the roof panel.   The molding is there to cover the edge of the hole that was cut in the roof panel during
installation.   With very few exceptions, factory installed sunroofs will not have this molding.  There are other clues to identify  a sunroof, but
the molding is the most obvious.
4)  T- Tops
Q.   Can you install t-tops in my car ?

Yes, but not at a reasonable cost.  T-top installation kits that were manufactured for the most popular t-top vehicles, Camaro-
Firebird,  Mustang-Capri, Cutlass-Regal-Grand Prix and Fiero are no longer made.  These kits were the only way to install t-tops in
non-t-top vehicles at a reasonable cost.  Now a modification called a roof clip must be made to install t-tops.  Roof clipping is cutting the
entire roof from the vehicle and replacing it with a used t-top equipped roof assembly.  This modification can easily cost thousands of
dollars in parts and labor.
5)  Convertible Tops
Q.   My convertible top has a hole in it,  can it be repaired ?

Yes.  Attaching a temporary patch over the hole from the inside is the least expensive option.  Sewing a permanent patch into the top is
rarely done because it can be unsightly and the labor cost approaches the cost  of replacing the convertible top.

Q.   What does it cost to replace my convertible top ?

We provide telephone estimates for convertible top and rear window replacement, and free convertible top inspections.
It is important to have the convertible top inspected prior to having the top replaced.  Several components must be in good
operating condition for your new top to perform well, including cables, webbing, pads and weatherstrips.  Some vehicles
have well- known  convertible top frame problems that can cause premature failure of a new top.  Please call us for a free
inspection.
